Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Police have arrested an accused along with a pistol in connection with the shooting death of Sandeep Kumar alias Sonu in the Shahkot police station area of Jalandhar.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Jalandhar Rural) Harvinder Singh Virk said on Tuesday that 33-year-old Sandeep Kumar alias Sonu, son of Banga Singh and a resident of Guru Ram Dass Colony, Shahkot, was shot dead on the evening of December 19. The victim was working at the scrap shop of Jinder Kabaria in Shahkot at the time.

Considering the seriousness of the case, multiple police teams were formed for investigation. During the probe, the main accused Sher Singh alias Shera, a resident of Rajewal village under Shahkot police station, Jalandhar district, was arrested on December 22.

Police also recovered a Turkey-made Zigana pistol and two live cartridges, which were allegedly used in the crime. Further investigation in the case is underway.
