Amritsar police arrest two terrorists with RPG; foiled plot to blow up police building

Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): In a major action, Amritsar (Rural) police have uncovered a terrorist plot before it could be carried out. Police have arrested two terrorists and recovered a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) from their possession. Police investigations have revealed that the accused were planning to target a police building after Diwali. The arrested suspects have been identified as Mehakdeep Singh alias Mehak and Aditya alias Adhi.
SSP Maninder Singh said that another accused in this case, Harpreet Singh will be arrested on a production warrant from Ferozepur Jail. A mobile phone has also been recovered from his possession inside the jail. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were in contact with Pakistan's intelligence agency, the ISI and the weapons shipment was ordered on its instructions. Police hope that the interrogation will yield many important revelations.
A case has been registered in this regard at the Gharinda police station. It is noteworthy that the Amritsar (Rural) police had previously arrested three terrorists and recovered six grenades from their possession.
