Punjab/Himachal Pradesh(The Uttam Hindu): Former Union Minister and MP from Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, today participated in the Maghi Mela at Sri Muktsar Sahib in Bathinda along with BJP State President Shri Sunil Jakhar, Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Saini, BJP National General Secretary Shri Tarun Chugh, Union Minister Shri Ravneet Singh Bittu, former CM Captain Amarinder Singh and other dignitaries. Speaking at the political program organized at the Maghi Mela, he said that the current Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has snatched away the happiness of the people and pushed Punjab towards anarchy and misery.

Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur said, “Punjab has to fight on five fronts today to protect its interests and ensure its prosperity. The AAP government in Punjab has promoted anarchy, drugs, crime, corruption, and the K-Company, and the entire Punjab will have to stand united against it. The Punjab Police, abandoning its primary duty, is now working at the behest of the government to fulfill its political objectives. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena, an Aam Aadmi Party leader, stands in the assembly and insults the Sikh Gurus, and the Punjab Chief Minister and the Punjab Police are giving her a clean chit. By what right? Never before in the history of any state assembly in the country has any leader made such objectionable statements insulting the Gurus. The insult to the Sikh Gurus was a deliberate act, part of a well-planned conspiracy. Instead of presenting her side of the story, Atishi has disappeared. Punjab wants to know why Atishi insulted our Gurus, Punjab, and Punjabi identity.

Today, under the Aam Aadmi Party's rule, speaking, hearing, and knowing the truth is forbidden in Punjab. This government is filing FIRs against journalists and RTI activists for questioning the misuse of the Chief Minister's helicopter in his absence. Thankfully, the High Court has shown the mirror to this dictatorial AAP government. I want to ask this corrupt and incompetent government: since when has asking questions become a crime in a democracy? Today, Punjab is being run not by Punjabis but by imposters from Delhi. They are misusing Punjab's resources. Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, after their defeat in the Delhi elections, have turned Punjab into their playground.”

Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur further said, “Since the AAP government came to power in Punjab, the condition of the people has become miserable. Incidents of rape, extortion, and other crimes, including murder, have become commonplace in Punjab. The way shootings and other crimes are increasing in the state, it is clear that the people of the state are not safe. Murders, robberies, and hooliganism have increased to an unprecedented level during Bhagwant Mann's government.” "In Punjab, it's no longer the rule of law, but the rule of criminals. In Punjab, both AAP and Congress are two sides of the same coin, joining hands whenever it suits them. This by-election is an opportunity for the people here to give a fitting reply to both AAP and Congress. These two parties sometimes contest elections together, sometimes pretend to fight separately, and then deceive the public with grand promises."

Further speaking, Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur said, "In the last elections, the Aam Aadmi Party made big promises, but they failed to deliver on them. Today, the law and order situation in Punjab is in a terrible state. Businessmen have started migrating. Those who are still working are receiving extortion calls from gangsters. AAP lacks both the policy and the intention to govern. Whether there is a Chief Minister or not makes no difference."

Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur said, "The BJP is working on the mantra of 'Heritage and Development'. When the crisis arose in Afghanistan, where our Sikh brothers and sisters lived, and our Gurdwara there was under great threat, we brought the sacred copies of the Guru Granth Sahib to India with utmost respect, carrying them on our heads. Not only that, we decided to celebrate December 26th as Veer Bal Diwas (Brave Children's Day) to respectfully commemorate the sacrifice of the Sahibzadas. We have started Veer Bal Diwas to inspire the future generations of India. The 400th Prakash Parv of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the 550th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and the 350th Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji were celebrated with great fanfare. Exemption of GST on Langar, construction of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, declaring Sultanpur Lodhi as a heritage city, establishing a chair in the name of Guru Nanak Dev Ji at a British university, and providing facilities for Sikh pilgrims to travel to Pakistan – all these initiatives reflect Prime Minister Modi's commitment to the Sikh community and his efforts to promote the values of Sikhism. The inauguration of the Kartarpur Corridor in November 2019 proved to be a landmark step for the Sikh community." Prime Minister Modi has taken significant initiatives to deliver justice to the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots and to heal their wounds.
