Baltej Pannu Slams Sukhbir Badal: ‘Arrogance and Corruption of Akali Rule Exposed

Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): Aam Aadmi Party leader Baltej Pannu has sharply criticized Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal’s statement on Bikram Majithia’s arrest. Pannu remarked that Badal’s comments clearly reveal his anxiety for himself and his family, fearing he could be next, as the revelations about the companies uncovered during the raids have left him rattled.

Baltej Pannu stated that Sukhbir Badal’s words in today’s press conference clearly revealed his unease, knowing that wrongdoing inevitably leads to unfavorable outcomes. He further highlighted that the hooliganism and corruption unleashed in Punjab by Badal and his associates from 2007 to 2017 remain etched in the public’s memory.

“They ordered the firing on unarmed and peaceful protesters during the Kotkapura incident. They attacked them with water cannons and tear gas shells,” Pannu said. Referring to Sukhbir Badal’s comment that police don’t conduct raids so early in the morning, Pannu reminded him that during the Kotkapura incident, it was early in the morning when police used dirty water cannons and batons on the protesters.

Pannu further said that during their time in power, Sukhbir Badal became so arrogant that he talked about ruling for 25 years without elections. “He seemed to have forgotten that elections are held every five years, not every 25 years. But back then, he was blinded by arrogance. In that arrogance, they destroyed Punjab. But now the true face of him and everyone around him has been completely exposed. That’s why he is unnerved,” Pannu said.
