Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu) : A major terrorist plot aimed at unleashing violence in India has been successfully thwarted by Punjab’s Anti-Gangster Task Force. Acting on intelligence inputs, security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition near the India-Pakistan border, including AK-47 rifles, hand grenades, and other explosives.

According to sources, the consignment was part of a coordinated effort by Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda, who is currently believed to be operating from Pakistan. The recovery is being seen as a major breakthrough in preventing a planned terror attack on Indian soil.

Intelligence-Led Operation

Punjab Police had received actionable intelligence about a joint terror conspiracy involving the ISI and Khalistani elements to smuggle weapons into India for large-scale attacks. In response, the Anti-Gangster Task Force launched a high-alert search operation across sensitive areas along the border. During the operation, the team uncovered a hidden cache of advanced weaponry in a secret location near the Indo-Pak border. Police officials confirmed that the seized arms were smuggled into India at the behest of Harvinder Singh Rinda, whose objective was to target key locations in Punjab and other states.

Who Is Harvinder Singh Rinda?

Rinda, a wanted Khalistani terrorist with a long history of anti-India activities, is known to be a key link between Pakistan's ISI and pro-Khalistan terror groups. Intelligence agencies claim that he has been using Pakistan as a safe haven to coordinate terror operations in India, often leveraging local criminal networks and separatist sympathizers.

Police and Intelligence Agencies on High Alert

The seized weapons and explosives point to a well-planned attempt to incite mass violence. Police are currently probing possible links between this arms consignment and other cross-border terror and smuggling networks. Further arrests and seizures may follow as the investigation progresses. This development underscores the continuing threat of cross-border terrorism and highlights the vigilance of Indian security forces in preempting such deadly plots.
