No Relief for Bikram Majithia; Custody Extended by Court till September 6

SAS Nagar (The Uttam Hindu) - After the appearance of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia in Mohali court through video conferencing, the court has extended his judicial custody till 6 September. After hearing the arguments of both the sides, the court has postponed the hearing on the application for barrack transfer till 30 August. Apart from this, the hearing on the application for giving a copy of the charge sheet filed against Majithia by the defense has been fixed for 2 September.

It is noteworthy that the Vigilance Bureau has taken a tough stand against Majithia in this case. On August 23, the Vigilance Bureau filed a 40,000-page chargesheet against him in the court. This chargesheet contains details of 200 witnesses and benami property worth Rs 700 crore. The government lawyer says that it mentions more than 400 bank accounts, whose records of the last 10 years have been scrutinized.
