Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): In a major boost to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab, Sardar Amarjeet Singh Kokri Kalan, who served as the State Financial Secretary of the BJP SC Wing, formally joined the Aam Aadmi Party today. Punjab Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema welcomed him into the party on behalf of AAP Punjab President Aman Arora and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
Speaking on the occasion, Cheema said that Amarjeet Singh has played an active and positive role for a long time in the Nihal Singh Wala region, and his entry into AAP reflects the growing public trust in the Mann Government’s work.
AAP is the only party standing with common people, says Cheema
Cheema said that Amarjeet Singh Kokri Kalan decided to leave BJP after becoming disillusioned with the party’s anti-people politics and policies. He added that Amarjeet Singh was deeply impressed by AAP’s governance model in Punjab, especially the 300 units of free electricity and the Rs 10 lakh health insurance scheme, which have provided real relief to ordinary families.
“Today, Punjab has only one party that holds the hand of the common man, stands with him, and delivers on the ground, and that party is the Aam Aadmi Party,” Cheema said.
Cheema informed that along with Amarjeet Singh, a large number of his supporters including sarpanch, panches and nambardar also joined AAP under the leadership of Manjeet Singh Bilaspur.
Welcoming all the new entrants, Cheema assured them that they will be given full respect and due responsibility in the party.
Cheema said that Amarjeet Singh has also served the nation earlier through his services in the military, and later remained active in public life. He added that such experienced and dedicated people joining AAP is a clear sign that Punjab is moving decisively towards politics of work, honesty and public welfare.
Cheema said the Mann Government has continuously worked for the welfare of every section of society, especially Dalits, the poor, farmers, labourers and youth. He said AAP is committed to ensuring dignity, opportunity and basic facilities for every citizen.
