Cabinet shake-up in Punjab: Harpal Cheema takes over Transport after Bhullar's arrest
Punjab govt reshuffles portfolios after Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar's arrest in Gagandeep Singh Randhawa's death case. Harpal Singh Cheema takes over Transport, Dr. Ravjot gets Jails
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Following the arrest of Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, the state government has reshuffled the portfolios of cabinet ministers with immediate effect. This decision was taken to ensure smooth administrative functioning. Under the new arrangement, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has been given additional responsibility for the Transport Department.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ravjot has been given charge of the Jails Department. Previously, Laljit Singh Bhullar held both the important Transport and Jails portfolios.
It should be noted that major action was taken in the case of the death of Punjab Warehousing Corporation (PWC) District Manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa. Police have arrested former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar in this case. This action was taken by the Fatehgarh Sahib police following the instructions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Police in Amritsar said that Bhullar was arrested from Mandi Gobindgarh in Fatehgarh Sahib district. He was brought to Amritsar from Mandi Gobindgarh.
According to reports, the case gained momentum after Gagandeep Singh Randhawa committed suicide on March 21. Former minister Laljit Bhullar was accused of harassment and mental pressure in connection with Randhawa's death.
