Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab and Haryana High Court has transferred the investigation into alleged corruption in the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) from the Punjab Police to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The court has directed the CBI to complete the probe within two months and submit a detailed report.

The case concerns allegations of corruption in the transfer and posting of government officials, Change of Land Use (CLU) matters and other government processes. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had written three times to the Punjab DGP seeking action against certain individuals including Punjab Chief Minister’s OSD Rajbir Ghuman over the allegations.

The Punjab Police was accused of failing to take concrete action despite the ED’s communications. Advocate Nikhil Saraf subsequently approached the High Court through a public interest litigation seeking an independent investigation. Taking note of the seriousness of the allegations, the court ordered the CBI to examine the documents and allegations and submit its report within two months.
