Chandigarh Serial Killer Convicted: Accused Found Guilty in Murder of MBA Student and Two Other Women

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking 12-year hunt for a serial killer in Chandigarh has finally ended with the conviction of the main accused, who was found guilty of murdering three women — including a young MBA student. The killer managed to evade the police for years, but was ultimately caught through extensive DNA testing.
The first case dates back to 2010, when a 21-year-old MBA student was found murdered in Sector-38. The case went cold due to lack of strong evidence. Years later, in 2022, the body of another woman was discovered in similar circumstances near Maloya. The pattern raised fresh suspicion about a serial offender.
A third case, matching the same brutal method, further strengthened the theory that the same person was behind all three murders.
Chandigarh Police launched one of their largest investigations, questioning nearly 800 people over several months. More than 100 DNA samples were collected and compared with forensic evidence from all three crime scenes.
One DNA sample finally matched — leading investigators to the accused, who had been living quietly in Chandigarh with no identification documents, no phone, and no digital footprint. This lack of traceable identity had allowed him to stay hidden for more than a decade.
After reviewing forensic reports, witness statements, and the matching DNA evidence, the court declared him guilty of rape and murder in all three cases. Police officials said this case highlights the importance of modern forensic science in solving long-pending crimes.
The families of the victims, who had been waiting many years for justice, expressed relief after the verdict.
