Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said the Aam Aadmi Party government has fulfilled its guarantees within four years through what he described as the “politics of work.” He said people had rejected the Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and the BJP in 2022 and placed their trust in AAP, and the government has worked to ensure that this trust was not broken.

Highlighting the government’s achievements, Mann said free electricity was provided to households, farmers were ensured uninterrupted daytime power, and canal irrigation has now reached about 78 percent of agricultural fields. He also said the government has created major employment opportunities, giving more than 65,000 government jobs and facilitating around 5.5 lakh employment opportunities through private investment and other initiatives.
The Chief Minister said the government has strengthened the health sector by expanding government hospitals, opening hundreds of Aam Aadmi Clinics and providing free treatment up to ₹10 lakh under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna. He added that the education sector has also seen major reforms, with modern infrastructure, smart classrooms and recruitment of teachers in government schools.
Mann also spoke about steps taken to improve law and order and tackle the drug problem in the state. He said the campaign ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ has led to strong action against drug traffickers and the government is committed to eliminating drugs from Punjab. He added that new initiatives such as the Sadak Surakhya Force have helped reduce road accident deaths significantly.
The Chief Minister said Punjab has attracted investment worth about ₹1.55 lakh crore over the last four years through initiatives like the Progressive Punjab Investors Summit. He added that new policies and faster clearances are encouraging industries to set up units in the state and generate jobs for youth.
Taking a swipe at opposition parties, Mann said Congress, the Akali Dal and the BJP are worried about political power, while his government is focused on the welfare of people and the development of Punjab. He added that divisive politics will not succeed in the state and the government will continue working to take Punjab to greater heights of progress.
