Fatehgarh Sahib (The Uttam Hindu): The team of the Excise Department has achieved great success in stopping cow smuggling. During a blockade jointly set up by the Excise Department of Himachal Pradesh, Gau Raksha Samiti Himachal Pradesh, Shiv Sena Hind, Bajrang Dal Nalagarh, an attempt to smuggle cows in a tanker coming from Punjab at Kenchi turn of Bilaspur was foiled.

Actually, the team of the Excise Department had set up a check post near Gada Mouda. During this time, the diesel tanker driver was signaled to stop, but he drove off the vehicle. After which, after a short distance, his balance got disturbed and the tanker got stuck in the drain on the side of the road. Investigation revealed that the tanker was modified. A window-like door was made by cutting the rear part, which was impossible to identify from outside. The department recovered 9 cows from inside the tanker. After which the police of Swarghat police station of Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh also reached the spot and took the tanker into custody and safely sent all the cattle to the cowshed. At the same time, the driver Jafar Ali, a resident of Jammu and the co-driver Aslam, a resident of Saharanpur, have absconded. The police have registered a case and started action. This tanker was going to Kashmir from Moga in Punjab via Manali.
