Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking crime that has shaken family ties has come to light from Indira Colony on Jhabbal Road in Amritsar. A woman allegedly murdered her 65-year-old mother-in-law, Kamlesh Rani, with the help of her lover. After committing the crime, she attempted to mislead the police by fabricating a story of robbery at the house. However, during police interrogation, she got trapped in her own plan and the entire conspiracy was exposed.

Mother-in-law opposed illicit relationship

According to Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, the complaint regarding the murder of Kamlesh Rani was initially filed by her daughter-in-law, Minty Sharma. When police began investigating from the angles of theft and murder, several surprising facts emerged.

During the probe, it was revealed that Minty Sharma was in a relationship with Dalveer Singh, also known as Ladi, who lived in the same Indira Colony. The deceased Kamlesh Rani was aware of the relationship and strongly opposed it, which often led to disputes at home. To remove this obstacle from her life, Minty allegedly planned the murder.

Lover called home on pretext of AC repair

To execute the plan, Minty chose March 9, when other family members had gone to attend a wedding in Dinanagar. At the time, only Minty and her mother-in-law were at home. She called her lover Dalveer to the house on the pretext of repairing the air conditioner.

Both then quietly entered Kamlesh Rani’s room and allegedly pressed a pillow over her face while she was asleep. After struggling for a few moments, she died of suffocation.

House ransacked to fake robbery

After the murder, Minty and Dalveer allegedly tried to give the crime the appearance of a robbery. They broke open cupboards and scattered items across the room. Minty later called the police and filed a false complaint claiming that unknown persons had entered the house, looted valuables, and murdered her mother-in-law.

Accused confesses during interrogation

When police examined the crime scene, they noticed several inconsistencies in Minty’s statement. On the basis of suspicion, officers questioned her intensively, after which she eventually confessed to the crime. Acting on her information, police also arrested her lover Dalveer Singh.

Both accused have been produced in court and sent to jail as further investigation continues.
