Moga (Davinder Pal Singh): The troubles for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab continue to mount. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted surprise raids early Wednesday at premises linked to Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora, MLA from the Moga Assembly constituency and president of the party's Punjab women's wing.

A team of the central investigative agency reached her flats located on the Moga-Ludhiana Road early in the morning. Soon afterwards, an extensive search operation was also launched at her private residence. The sudden action created a stir in the political and administrative circles of the district.

Investigation underway under tight CRPF security, officials examine documents

Elaborate security arrangements have been made during the raids. Personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have cordoned off the MLA's residence and flats, restricting the movement of outsiders in the area.

Inside the premises, officials are examining important documents related to financial transactions, properties and bank accounts. However, the ED has not yet officially clarified the specific financial irregularity or case in connection with which the action is being carried out.

Action days after ticket announcement triggers political stir

The timing of the raids is being considered politically significant. On Saturday, the Aam Aadmi Party released its first list of 40 candidates for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections. The party once again expressed confidence in sitting Moga MLA Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora and nominated her to contest from the constituency.

The major action by the central investigative agency, just days after the formal announcement of her candidature, is likely to intensify political allegations and counter-allegations in the state. Local party workers and supporters are also closely monitoring the developments.
