Chandigarh (The Uttam hindu): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that the top 20 students of Class 8 will receive direct admission to Schools of Eminence without any entrance test. The announcement was made while interacting with toppers at his residence in Chandigarh, highlighting the state government’s push to improve access to quality education.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab’s “education revolution” is delivering results at the grassroots level. Notably, girls dominated the merit list by securing 19 out of the top 20 positions in the Punjab School Education Board Class 8 results, reflecting growing participation and success among students from ordinary families.

He also rewarded the top three students with ₹50,000 each and encouraged all students to remain grounded, work hard, and choose the right role models. Mann stated that government schools in Punjab are emerging as a national benchmark due to continuous investment in infrastructure, modern facilities, and a supportive learning environment.

Sharing his interaction on social media, he congratulated students, parents, and teachers, emphasizing that the success of these students reflects discipline, dedication, and confidence nurtured through improved education policies.

Highlighting individual achievements, the Chief Minister mentioned that the top scorer, Tamanna from a school in Faridkot, secured a perfect 600/600 marks. Jaspreet Kaur from Sangrur and Jashandeep Kaur from Faridkot secured the second and third positions with 598 marks each. He also noted that all three toppers are state or national-level athletes.

Mann reiterated that these meritorious students have already proven their capabilities and will now be admitted to Schools of Eminence under a special quota. He added that around 2.62 lakh students appeared in the exams this year.

Calling it a proud moment, he said that honoring talented students is the government’s duty and an important step in building confidence among youth, who are future leaders. He further emphasized that the Punjab government is committed to bridging socio-economic gaps through education and transforming lives with quality schooling.
