Ferozepur police busts Pakistan-based arms smuggling network, two smugglers arrested

Ferozepur (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Police has busted a major cross-border arms smuggling network and arrested two key suspects. Acting on intelligence, Ferozepur Police arrested Gurpreet Singh alias Gori and Vikramjit Singh alias Vicky.
Six Glock 9mm pistols, four magazines, and four live cartridges were recovered from the possession of both accused. During preliminary interrogation, Vikramjit confessed to having direct links with a Pakistani smuggler, whose disclosure led to the seizure of two additional Glock pistols by the police. This action is proving crucial in stemming the growing flow of illegal weapons into Punjab.
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav shared the breakthrough on the official social media platform 'X'. He posted, "Acting on a tip-off, Ferozepur Police busted a cross-border arms smuggling network and arrested two accused, Gurpreet Singh alias Gori and Vikramjeet Singh alias Vicky. Six Glock 9mm pistols, four magazines, and four live cartridges were recovered from the accused."
The DGP further stated that the accused, Vikramjit Singh, was in direct contact with a Pakistani smuggler involved in illegal arms trafficking. Acting on his information, police recovered two additional Glock pistols. He also admitted to supplying weapons to local contacts on the instructions of his Pakistani handlers.
This arrest also provided clues to an old case. Vikramjit's statement revealed that an earlier case involving the purchase of AK-47 rifles from the same cross-border network had surfaced. Police are now conducting a technical analysis of the seized digital devices, mobile phones, and laptops to uncover the entire supply chain.
It involves foreign handlers, Pakistani handlers, and local associates. According to the Ferozepur police, this network was smuggling weapons across the border using drones and other means. Police are coordinating with neighboring states and central agencies to break the entire chain.
