Ludhiana (The Uttam Hindu): In a major breakthrough against organised crime, Punjab Police have dismantled an extortion racket linked to notorious gangster Goldy Brar. The Ludhiana Commissionerate Police arrested 10 members of the gang, foiling their criminal plans.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) said the success came after a sustained intelligence-led operation that continued for nearly three weeks. During the crackdown, police recovered a large cache of weapons including foreign-made firearms. Among the seized arms were two Austrian-made Glock pistols and 10 other sophisticated weapons.

Investigations revealed that all the arrested accused were actively working to disturb law and order in the state. They were allegedly involved in illegal arms smuggling, extortion activities and planned murders with the intention of spreading fear and chaos across Punjab.

Cases have been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act. Police said further investigation is underway to identify and arrest other associates linked to the network. The DGP reiterated that Punjab Police remain committed to dismantling organised crime and gangster syndicates to ensure peace and security in the state.
