Hoshiarpur (The Uttam Hindu): A review meeting regarding the preparations for the grand Nagar Kirtan being organized as part of the 350th martyrdom anniversary celebrations of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was held at the District Administrative Complex, Hoshiarpur, under the chairmanship of Punjab Cabinet Minister for Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Harjot Singh Bains.

The meeting was attended by Advisor to the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Deepak Bali, Department Secretary Dr. Abhinav Trikha, MLAs Bram Shankar Jimpa, Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, and Karmbir Singh Ghumman. Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain welcomed all the dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Harjot Singh Bains and Advisor Deepak Bali stated that the Punjab Government is commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji with grand events across the state. As part of these celebrations, several Nagar Kirtans will be organized. One such Nagar Kirtan will commence from Srinagar on November 19, 2025, reach Pathankot on November 20, and enter Hoshiarpur district on November 21, halting overnight at Gurdwara Rampur Khera via Mukerian and Dasuya.

On November 22, the Nagar Kirtan will pass through Hariana town and reach Hoshiarpur city, where it will be accorded a grand ‘Guard of Honour’. The procession will then continue through Chabbewal, Mahilpur, Saila Khurd, and Garhshankar, before proceeding to Sri Anandpur Sahib. The entire route will feature elaborate arrangements including cleanliness drives, langar seva, floral showers, and drinking water facilities. The Minister said that the Nagar Kirtan will receive an enthusiastic welcome at every city, town, and village it passes through.

Minister Bains also announced that from November 1 to 18, a grand Light and Sound Show depicting the life and teachings of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will be organized at Lajwanti Stadium, Hoshiarpur. He urged the sangat to participate in large numbers and be blessed by the divine occasion.

Secretary Dr. Abhinav Trikha informed that extensive preparations are underway to ensure the success of these celebrations. Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain assured that all arrangements for welcoming the Nagar Kirtan will be executed flawlessly.

Among those present were Mayor Surinder Kumar, Chairman of Improvement Trust Gurvinder Singh Pabla, Chairman of Market Committee Jaspal Singh Chechi, Additional Deputy Commissioners Nikas Kumar and Amarbir Kaur Bhullar, Municipal Commissioner Jyoti Bala Mattu, Assistant Commissioner Oishee Mandal, SDMs Gursimranjit Kaur, Parampreet Singh, Ankur Mahendru, Kanwaljit Singh, and Sanjeev Kumar, along with officials from the Tourism Department Bhupinder Singh Channa and Satwant Singh Sian, and other dignitaries.
