Heartfelt Farewell to Dr. Davinder Kaur, Principal of State College of Education, Patiala

Patiala(The Uttam Hindu): Dr. Davinder Kaur, Principal of Government (State) College of Education, Patiala, retired on Friday after rendering nearly 31 years of distinguished service in the field of higher education. Known for her simplicity, discipline, and academic excellence, Dr. Kaur leaves behind a rich legacy of efficient administration and dedicated teaching.

Born on January 5, 1968, Dr. Davinder Kaur's academic journey began in Himachal Pradesh. She earned a gold medal in M.Phil (Physical Chemistry) and obtained her Ph.D. from Himachal Pradesh University in 1993.

Her teaching career commenced on February 16, 1995, as a lecturer at Government College, Ropar. She subsequently served at Government College, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), and Post Graduate Government College, Sector-11, Chandigarh. She assumed the charge of Principal at State College of Education, Patiala, on July 19, 2024.

Besides teaching, Dr. Kaur successfully discharged various administrative and academic responsibilities. She was a member of the Senate and Board of Studies of Punjabi University, Patiala. Additionally, she was appointed as a subject expert by the Directorate of Higher Education, Punjab, and efficiently handled several important administrative tasks assigned by the DPI (Colleges), Punjab.

Dr. Davinder Kaur's family is also deeply connected to public service. Her husband, Sardar Ravinder Singh, retired as a Director from PSPCL and is currently a member of the Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission. Her daughter, Bhavsimran Kaur, is a General Manager at Godrej, while her son-in-law works as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey in the USA.

At the farewell ceremony held on her retirement, the college faculty and staff remembered Dr. Kaur as a calm, simple, and amiable personality, an "epitome of simplicity," and recalled her significant contributions. The program concluded with well wishes expressed through the poems of renowned poet Surjit Patar, conveying the message that retirement is not an end, but the beginning of a new chapter in life.

The entire staff of the State College of Education and Assistant Professor Ms. Murti Kaur wished Dr. Davinder Kaur good health and a bright future.
