High Court rules on Bikram Majithia's bail plea in Amritsar land deal case

Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu) : The Punjab and Haryana High Court has rejected the anticipatory bail petition of Shiromani Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia in a land-related case. The case dates back to 2022, when the Punjab Police registered an FIR against unknown persons in connection with a land purchase in Amritsar. Although Majithia's name was not mentioned in the FIR, he had filed an anticipatory bail petition due to the possibility of arrest.
The court dismissed the petition, stating that there was no point in filing the petition without his name in the FIR. This decision comes as a setback for Majithia, who had sought relief from the High Court.
The case has sparked interest in Punjab politics, with the Shiromani Akali Dal leader facing scrutiny over his involvement in the land deal.
