Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu) : In a significant boost to road safety and emergency response, Honda India Foundation (HIF) on Tuesday handed over 25 Quick Response Team (QRT) motorcycles to the Udaipur Police under its flagship road safety programme ‘Sadak Sahayak: Surakshit Marg, Surakshit Jiwan’. Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria flagged off the motorcycles.

The initiative is aligned with the Governor’s vision of faster emergency response and safer roads. The specially customised Honda Shine 100 motorcycles are aimed at strengthening traffic management, emergency assistance and on-ground policing, particularly in congested and sensitive areas. The project mirrors a similar successful model earlier implemented in Chandigarh and other regions.

The initiative also reflects Honda’s global commitment to achieving a collision-free society by 2050. Over the past year, the foundation has provided 250 QRT motorcycles to police departments across Gujarat, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Karnataka.

Social activist Karan Gilhotra played a key role in conceptualising and facilitating the public-private partnership focused on road safety and rapid assistance.

The handover ceremony was held in the presence of Governor Gulab Chand Kataria; Namit Mehta, District Collector, Udaipur; Gourav Shrivastav, Inspector General of Police, Udaipur; Yogesh Goyal, Superintendent of Police, Udaipur; and Rajeev Taneja, Operating Officer, Honda India Foundation, along with senior police officials.

Equipped with revolving flashers, public address systems, sirens, flashlights, storage boxes and safety helmets, the QRT motorcycles are designed to reduce response time, improve enforcement efficiency and help save lives.
