Gurdaspur (The Uttam Hindu): Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament from Gurdaspur, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, has raised serious questions over the official statement issued in connection with the recent killing of two police personnel in the district. He has demanded an independent and impartial probe by the Ministry of Home Affairs so that the truth can be brought before the people of the country and the state.

Randhawa said that the matter is extremely sensitive and cannot be taken lightly at any level. He made it clear that accountability must be fixed at every level in this incident.

He stated that recently surfaced footage raises serious doubts about the alleged “mutual shootout” theory. The available visuals indicate that at the time of the incident, both officers were either seated or in a resting position. Additionally, information has emerged that a rifle was placed behind a bed, which makes the claim that the same weapon was used for firing appear doubtful.

Randhawa said this is not merely a factual inconsistency but a fundamental contradiction. If the officers were not even in a defensive position, the concept of a “shootout” automatically weakens. In such circumstances, it becomes extremely necessary to bring the truth to light.

He urged the central government, particularly the Ministry of Home Affairs, to immediately take over the investigation to ensure a fair, independent, and time-bound probe.

Randhawa said that justice must be delivered to the families of the deceased police officers and transparency ensured for the people of Punjab. Any attempt to suppress facts or shield responsible individuals would seriously damage public trust.
