Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has taken a significant step by expelling Jagdeep Singh Cheema, the son of former minister Randhir Singh Cheema and party general secretary, from the party. According to SAD spokesperson Daljit Singh Cheema, Jagdeep Singh Cheema was involved in anti-party activities, which led to this decision.

The expulsion comes at a notable time, given that SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal had recently visited Cheema's house to express condolences following the demise of his father, Randhir Singh Cheema. Jagdeep Singh Cheema had been actively involved in party activities, including making appointments for the Youth Akali Dal in Fatehgarh Sahib and organizing a major event recently.

Jagdeep Singh Cheema had also contested the 2022 assembly elections from Fatehgarh Sahib and had opposed the decision to remove the Jathedars. Despite his recent activities and involvement in the party, the SAD leadership has decided to take strict action against him, emphasizing the party's commitment to discipline and adherence to its principles.
