Jagdev Singh Brar was an educated, progressive farmer and a religious man

Sri Muktsar Sahib(The Uttam Hindu): Sardar Jagdev Singh Brar was born on March 15, 1945, in his maternal grandparents' village, Chak Suhelewala. His father was Atma Singh Brar, a resident of village Bhagsar, and his mother was Balwant Kaur. He inherited moral values, heritage and cultural traits from village Bhagsar. Born into a farming family in the village, Jagdev Singh completed his schooling at Khalsa School, Sri Muktsar Sahib. Following his family's foresight regarding higher education, he pursued a B.Sc. (Medical) degree from Khalsa College, Amritsar, at that time.
He was married to Shivinder Kaur, daughter of Sardar Gurdev Singh Sangha of village Droli Bhai in Moga district. After his marriage, he moved to England for about two years and settled there. Considering his family responsibilities, he decided to return to his homeland, keeping in mind the needs of his family.
He left England and returned to village Bhagsar in 1972 and took over the family farming business. He was a progressive farmer and had excellent expertise in every crop, and he also adopted other agricultural businesses. Along with successful farming, he also expanded his livestock business and, together with his family, always remained at the forefront of their family business. After his father's death, he considered his elder brother, Mitt Singh Brar (former President of the Municipal Council, Sri Muktsar Sahib), as his father figure. The two brothers shared a deep bond and were always together in every social and family joy and sorrow.
His son, Harsuhinderpal Singh Brar, is an IAS officer. He is the son-in-law of the late former Union Minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and, after serving in various positions in Punjab and the Union Territory, is currently the Director of Higher Education in Punjab. His elder daughter, Opinder Kaur, is a lawyer in New Zealand, and his younger daughter, Suneet Kaur, works as an administrator in the UK. His grandson, Harbir Singh, is currently working at Deloitte, a world-renowned company in England, and his other grandson, Jaiinder Singh, is studying law in New Zealand.
Jagdev Singh Brar was an educated, progressive farmer, a good person, and a religious man. He was a man of unwavering faith in the Guru and had become a devout Sikh after receiving Amrit Sanchar (Sikh initiation ceremony) about 15 years ago. He participated in religious activities with great enthusiasm. In memory of Jagdev Singh Brar, who passed away on December 6th, Kirtan (religious hymns) and the final Ardas (prayer) will be held after the completion of the Sri Sehaj Path (continuous reading of the Guru Granth Sahib) on Tuesday, December 16th, from 12 PM to 1 PM at his village, Bhagsar, in Sri Muktsar Sahib district.
