Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu) : In a major action against illegal activities, the Maqsudan police raided a prostitution racket operating from a residence in Asha Colony and arrested three individuals, including two women. The operation was conducted following multiple complaints from local residents, who had long demanded action against the woman allegedly running the racket.

SHO Bikram Singh of Maqsudan police station stated that he was patrolling near Sheikh Pul when a special informer tipped him off. The informer revealed that Rajinder Kaur alias Rani, a resident of Asha Colony, was running a sex racket from her home and that both men and women were present at the location at the time.

Acting swiftly, SHO Bikram Singh, along with female police personnel, raided the house. During the operation, the police arrested Rajinder Kaur alias Rani, wife of Surjit Singh, along with Jitan, wife of Peter from Sarai Khas (Kartarpur), and Davinder Singh Balbir, a resident of Hardayal Nagar.

The police have filed a case against the trio and begun an investigation. They have also confiscated mobile phones belonging to the accused in an effort to trace the wider network behind the racket. The arrested individuals will be produced in court, and police will seek their remand for further questioning.

Journalists Tried to Pressure Police

Sources revealed that two individuals posing as journalists attempted to pressure the police into releasing the accused. However, the Maqsudan police stood firm and issued a stern warning, stating that supporting anti-social elements could lead to legal consequences. There are also unconfirmed reports suggesting that illegal drugs were being circulated from the same location, though no narcotics were found during the raid.

Accused Women Provide More Leads

During initial interrogation, the two arrested women reportedly provided crucial information about other prostitution centers operating in the area, including locations in Noorpur, Noorpur Colony, and New Hargobind Nagar. They also named several drug peddlers active in these localities. The Maqsudan police are now preparing to launch further raids based on this intelligence and dismantle more such illegal networks operating under their jurisdiction.
