Ludhiana under fire: woman shot in head, daughter targeted in broad daylight attack

Ludhiana (The Uttam Hindu) : A horrifying incident unfolded in Ludhiana, Punjab on Saturday. In the GTB Nagar, Mundian area, a man opened fire in broad daylight on a woman sitting outside her home. The woman was sitting with her daughter. The daughter managed to escape the attack, but the woman died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The sound of the gunshot sent panic through the area. Neighbors immediately rushed the injured woman to Ludhiana Civil Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. The deceased has been identified as Poonam Pandey. The family is in mourning, and the daughter is in deep shock. The family says they have no previous enmity with anyone.

According to the victim's daughter, the attacker was wearing a black jacket and a hat. He first shot at the daughter, but she dodged and escaped. He then shot the woman in the back of the head, causing her to collapse in a pool of blood. The accused fled immediately after the incident.

Neighbor Harvinder said that he reached the spot as soon as he heard the news of the shooting. Seeing the woman in critical condition, he immediately took her to the hospital in his car and tried his best, but by then it was too late. According to neighbors, the attackers came on a bike and it is possible that more than one accused was involved. Information has also emerged that the shooter went inside the house. After reaching the hospital, the police was informed, after which the local police station reached the spot and started investigation. Currently, the police is examining CCTV footage and searching for the attackers. This murder in broad daylight has raised serious questions about the security system of the area.
