Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): A new chapter is being written on the soil of Punjab. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has stepped out of the corridors of power and walked straight into the fields, grain markets and villages. For the first time, a Chief Minister is personally supervising relief operations by reaching out directly to farmers and labourers. This is not a political spectacle—it is the beginning of a new governance model.

When floods devastated Punjab and broke the backbone of its farmers, CM Mann did not stop at mere announcements. He went to the ground, met every affected family, and ensured immediate help. A relief package of ₹74 crore, 2 lakh quintals of free wheat seed, and ₹20,000 per acre compensation—these were not just figures, but tools to rebuild shattered hopes. Most importantly, the relief reached farmers’ bank accounts within just 30 days—a record that has exposed and shamed decades of bureaucratic red tape.

For CM Mann, the focus is not limited to big farmers alone. His instructions are clear—the scope of relief must include agricultural labourers, small traders, and economically weaker families. This inclusive approach reflects the true essence of democracy.

Flood-affected farmers were also allowed to sell the sand and silt deposited on their land—without requiring any government NOC—until November 15. This practical decision is helping farmers regain financial stability.

On social media, CM Mann personally shared videos of relief operations from various villages, evaluating every activity with officials. This transparency has not only won public trust but also made the administration accountable.

The government did not stop at distributing compensation. Crop damage compensation was increased to ₹40,000, owners of damaged houses received financial support, and farmers were exempted from paying instalments or interest for six months—a level of financial relief no previous government offered.

Assistance was also announced for loss of livestock and damage to other property. Special monitoring teams were formed from village to state level to ensure no complaint goes unheard. The Mann government has assured full government procurement of crops and timely payments—and this time, it is not just a pre-election promise but a reality on the ground.

Today in Punjab, relief work is visible not on paper but in the lives of every affected citizen. This is governance that delivers—leadership that stands by its word.

Bhagwant Mann has proved that governments are not meant to function from closed rooms, but from the dusty mandis where the people are. By turning crisis into an opportunity, he has set an example for the entire nation—true leadership is one that shows results on the ground, not merely in headlines.

Punjab today stands on the threshold of a new era—an era where the distance between the government and the people is narrowing, where promises are fulfilled, and where every farmer, labourer, and poor family believes that their government truly stands with them.
