MLA Pragat Singh must answer for 15 years of failure before speaking, says Amit Taneja

Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): Bharatiya Janata Party State Executive Committee member Amit Taneja strongly hit back at the remarks made by Congress MLA Sardar Pragat Singh from Jalandhar Cantt, stating that a legislator who has failed to deliver for 15 years has no moral authority to criticise others.
Amit Taneja said that Pragat Singh’s recent statements reflect political frustration and are disconnected from ground realities. He alleged that throughout his long political career, the Congress MLA has failed to present any meaningful record of development in his constituency and is now making baseless allegations against the BJP to cover up his own shortcomings.
Reacting to Pragat Singh’s remark that “people wearing khaki shorts and BJP workers will not be allowed to enter villages,” Taneja said such language exposes the Congress party’s fear and frustration. He added that whenever Congress feels threatened politically, it resorts to intimidating tactics and attempts to undermine democratic values.
Taneja further questioned what Pragat Singh has actually delivered to his constituency over the past 15 years, claiming there has been no significant progress in infrastructure, employment or youth welfare. He said the MLA is now trying to divert public attention through irresponsible statements instead of answering legitimate questions about his performance.
Responding to Pragat Singh’s criticism of the Union Budget, Amit Taneja said a party that neglected Punjab for decades has no moral right to call the budget a failure. He asserted that the current budget has brought substantial relief to farmers, youth and traders, even though Congress refuses to acknowledge these benefits.
Challenging the Congress MLA, Taneja called upon Pragat Singh to face a public debate and present an honest account of his 15-year tenure. He said people now want accountability and real development, not empty political rhetoric.
Taneja also clarified that BJP workers will continue to reach out to people in every village to highlight the central government’s policies and achievements and will not be deterred by any threats.
He concluded by stating that the future belongs to leaders who work on the ground, not those who merely make statements without results.
