MLA Vikramjit Chaudhary Meets Family of Mandeep Who Died in Russia, Seeks Justice

Goraya (The Uttam Hindu): Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, MLA, met the bereaved family of Mandeep Kumar his father Avtar Chand and brother Jagdeep whose mortal remains have recently arrived in India from Russia under tragic circumstances. Mandeep had gone abroad in search of employment but was allegedly deceived by agents and forcibly inducted into the Russian Army, leading to his untimely death.
During the meeting, the family shared their painful ordeal and stated that despite lodging complaints earlier, no effective action has been taken against the agents involved. The family also conveyed their firm decision to perform Mandeep’s last rites only after justice is ensured.
The MLA stated that he had written to the Ministry of External Affairs in May 2024, seeking immediate intervention in the matter, but the family continues to await justice.
Expressing complete solidarity with the grieving family, Chaudhary said he would now approach the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs, along with the family, to demand a fair and time bound investigation, immediate registration of FIRs, strict action against all agents and traffickers involved, and accountability for administrative inaction.
He added that the tragic case highlights a larger and alarming issue of systematic exploitation of Indian youth through fake overseas job rackets, amounting to human trafficking. He stressed that strong and urgent action is required to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
“Justice for Mandeep Kumar is not just the demand of one family; it is a moral obligation of the state,” the MLA said.
