Punjab CM boosts SC student scholarships: Rs 270 crore allocation announced at Jalandhar event

Jalandhar(The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced an increase in the post-matric scholarship fund for SC students from Rs 248 crore to Rs 270 crore, benefiting 35% more students, at a function held at PAP ground Jalandhar. The scholarship scheme has seen a significant increase, with 2,37,456 students availing it in 2022-23, up from 1,76,842 in 2022.
The government has also launched an Overseas Scholarship Scheme for SC students and children of landless agricultural laborers, covering tuition fees, airfare and medical insurance. Additionally, a PCS Crash Course is being launched at Ambedkar Institute, Mohali, to prepare SC, BC and minority students for civil services.
