Punjab Communal Clash: Man Beaten in Jalandhar for Chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’, Video Goes Viral

Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): A tense situation unfolded in Jalandhar’s Press Club Chowk when a scooter rider chanting “Jai Shri Ram” clashed with members of the Muslim community marching towards the Police Commissioner’s office with a memorandum linked to the “I Love Mohammad” row.
According to the Hindu side, the scooter rider was assaulted, and his scooter keys were snatched for raising the slogan. On the other hand, the Muslim group alleged that the man deliberately provoked them by chanting slogans. The situation escalated as both sides exchanged slogans — Hindus shouting “Jai Shri Ram” and Muslims responding with “Allah Hu Akbar.
The scooter rider, Yogesh, claimed that as soon as he raised the slogan, he was surrounded and pressured to chant “Allah Hu Akbar,” or else he would be beaten. When he refused, his keys were snatched, he was manhandled, and people even took off their shoes to hit him. The incident was caught on camera and is now viral on social media.
Meanwhile, All India Ulema Chairman Mohammad Akbar Ali stated that his group was peacefully submitting a memorandum against discrimination faced by Muslims. He denied the assault allegations, adding that the scooter keys had been returned. After the incident, Hindu groups, along with BJP members, staged protests and blocked traffic at Press Club Chowk and BMC Chowk.
