Punjab Congress factionalism deepens as 15 MLAs hold secret meeting, seek Rahul Gandhi’s appointment
Factionalism has intensified in Punjab Congress as 15 MLAs reportedly held a secret meeting and sought an appointment with Rahul Gandhi.
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu) – Factionalism within the Punjab Congress has intensified, with 15 MLAs reportedly holding a closed-door meeting in Chandigarh. The MLAs have written to Rahul Gandhi seeking an appointment to discuss the ongoing differences among party leaders and the situation within the state unit.
Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa has also reached Delhi following the development. The MLAs had earlier been unable to meet Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel during his visit to the state due to the Assembly session. Rahul Gandhi has not yet confirmed a meeting time.
Barnala MLA Kuldeep Singh “Kala Dhillon” said the MLAs want to convey their concerns to the party high command and seek a solution to the differences. He said the leaders remain committed to the party and want to work towards strengthening and uniting the Punjab Congress.
