Punjab: Father kills 17-year-old daughter with sword for not having a son

Hoshiarpur (The Uttam Hindu): A heartbreaking incident has come to light from Punjab's Hoshiarpur district. A father in Dhoot Kalan village, Haryana, has been accused of murdering his 17-year-old daughter with a sword. The accused fled the scene after the incident. Upon receiving information about the incident, police from Haryana Police Station arrived at the scene and began an investigation. The deceased was a 12th class student of a government school

The deceased has been identified as Indrapreet Kaur. She was a 12th-grade student at the government school in Dhoot Kalan village. According to family and acquaintances, she was a bright student. The family is mourning her death, and her mother is inconsolable.

Uncle made serious allegations

The deceased's maternal uncle, Manjit Singh, stated that the accused had always wanted a son. He said the family had no idea he would take such a step. Following the incident, the family demanded the immediate arrest of the accused and strict legal action against him.

According to DSP Rural Narendra Singh, police were notified of the incident around 7:15 am. A police team arrived at the scene, conducted an investigation, and questioned the relevant individuals. According to police, preliminary investigations revealed that the father killed his daughter by attacking her with a sword. A case has been registered based on the statement of the deceased's mother, Baljit Kaur. Police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem.
