Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Due to heavy rains in Punjab, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir, normal life has been disrupted. Due to continuous rains in the hilly areas, water is being released continuously from Ranjit Sagar Dam and Bhakra Dam, due to which the water level of Ravi, Sutlej and Beas rivers is increasing rapidly.

At the same time, due to heavy rainfall, Chakki Bridge in Pathankot has been damaged. Due to soil sinking under this bridge built on the Beas river, the Jammu division of the railway has closed the Jammu-Jalandhar rail track. Due to this, the movement of about 90 trains has been affected. Some trains are being sent from Pathankot-Amritsar, Jalandhar route. At present, the railway has stopped the movement of trains from Chakki Bridge till further orders.

7 districts in Punjab have been hit by floods. Seeing the situation getting serious, schools in Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Pathankot and Gurdaspur districts as well as Ajnala and Raiya blocks of Amritsar have been closed today. Schools in 20 flood-affected villages of Fazilka will remain closed till further orders. Flood-like conditions have arisen in Tarn Taran and Ferozepur due to the water released from Harike Headworks. A crack has appeared in the Dhusi dam of Beas river in Ahli Kalan village of Sultanpur Lodhi. Due to this, the crops of the farmers have been destroyed, water has also entered people's houses.
