Punjab Floods: All Schools to Remain Shut Till September 3

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu)- In view of the heavy rains and flood situation, the Punjab government has extended the holidays of all schools till September 3. Earlier, the Punjab government had announced holidays for all schools from August 27 to August 30.


Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains said that keeping in view the flood situation in Punjab, as per the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, holidays have been declared in all government and private schools in the state till September 3, 2025. Education Minister Bains said in a post on X that parents and students are requested to give priority to safety and follow the instructions issued by the administration. Punjab is currently facing severe floods. Due to the rise in rivers and seasonal drains due to heavy rains in the mountains, its worrying results are being seen in Punjab. The most affected districts in the state are Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar.
