Punjab footballer dies of heart attack; 14-year-old collapses after shot, panic grips field

Abohar (The Uttam Hindu) – A tragic incident occurred on Sunday in Abohar, Punjab, where a 14-year-old minor football player died on the field while playing football. The incident occurred while he was participating in a tournament organized by a local private sports club. During the game, he suddenly collapsed on the field, causing panic among the players and organizers present there.
People present at the ground immediately picked up the child and took him to a nearby private doctor. The doctor referred him to a government hospital due to his critical condition, but upon arrival, doctors declared him dead. The deceased has been identified as Jassu alias Jaspreet (14), a resident of Alamwala village in Malout. The cause of death is initially believed to be a heart attack, although police say the exact cause will only be confirmed after the postmortem report.
According to reports, a two-day local football tournament was organized by the Maharishi Valmiki Sports Club on Sunday afternoon at around 4 p.m. It was the first day of the tournament, and the first match was being played, when Jassu suddenly collapsed while playing. The deceased's father, Purushottam, stated that Jassu was completely healthy and had never suffered from any serious illness. He was the only and youngest brother of his three sisters. The family says that Jassu was born after three daughters and many prayers to God. Therefore, his sudden death has left the entire family in deep shock.
Jaspreet's uncle, Ashok Kumar, said he played sports daily and was also good at studies. He left home on Sunday, saying, "I'll be back soon." A short time later, he received a call from his friends, prompting the family to rush to the hospital, where they learned of his death.
