Big Blow to AAP: Punjab MLA from Patanmajra Denied Anticipatory Bail in Rape Case

Patiala (The Uttam Hindu): In a major setback for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator from Patanmajra, the Patiala court has rejected his anticipatory bail plea in a rape case. The MLA has reportedly been on the run for over a month since the case was registered against him.

According to official sources, the complaint was filed by a woman who accused the AAP MLA of sexual assault. Despite multiple summons, the legislator failed to appear before the investigating authorities, following which the police intensified efforts to locate him.

The court’s decision to dismiss the anticipatory bail plea has further tightened the legal noose around the absconding MLA. Police teams have been conducting raids at several possible hideouts across Punjab and neighboring states.

The development has triggered political controversy in the state, with opposition parties targeting the AAP government over its silence on the issue. Meanwhile, legal experts believe the rejection of bail could pave the way for the MLA’s imminent arrest if he fails to surrender soon.
