Punjab Police ASI shot dead in Amritsar while going for duty
Punjab Police ASI Joga Singh was shot dead by unidentified attackers in Amritsar’s Majitha area while travelling for duty. Police have launched an investigation.
Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking incident has surfaced from Majitha in Amritsar, where an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Punjab Police was shot dead by unidentified attackers on Friday morning while heading for duty. The deceased officer has been identified as Joga Singh. Police teams reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident and started an investigation.
According to preliminary information, ASI Joga Singh was travelling on his scooter for duty when unidentified assailants opened fire on him on the way. He suffered serious bullet injuries and died on the spot shortly after the attack.
Senior police officials rushed to the crime scene and the entire area was cordoned off. Investigators have collected evidence from the spot and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the attackers. However, no confirmed details about the accused have been revealed so far.
Police officials stated that efforts are underway to trace and arrest those involved in the murder at the earliest.
