Gurdaspur (The Uttam Hindu): Police and security agencies have timely foiled a major terrorist attack in Punjab. Amritsar Rural Police, Gurdaspur Police, and the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), in a joint operation with central agencies, busted an active terrorist module of the ISI-backed Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

Investigations have revealed that the module was operating at the behest of a foreign handler. During the operation, police arrested two suspects who were planning major attacks in the state.

Dangerous Weapons and Explosives Recovered

Security agencies recovered a large quantity of explosive material and equipment from the accused. These included five hand grenades, two special detonators, a PTT timer with a coder-decoder, 9-volt batteries, one kilogram of high explosives (loaded with nails), a Baofeng walkie-talkie, and a trigger mechanism. These seizures indicate that the accused were preparing for a major and well-planned attack.

A case has been registered in Gurdaspur, and investigation into foreign links has intensified

A case has been registered under the Explosive Substances Act at Kalanaur Police Station, Gurdaspur district. Police are now investigating the network's forward and backward links, with a particular focus on identifying foreign handlers and local associates.
