Punjab police busts BKI terror module, 4 arrested with RDX IED and pistols

Chandigarh/Hoshiarpur (Neetu Sharma): Achieving a major success against Pakistan's ISI-backed terror network in the run-up to Republic Day, Hoshiarpur Police, in a joint operation with Counter Intelligence (CI), Jalandhar, busted a terror module linked to the banned organisation Babbar Khalsa International (BKI). During the operation, four operatives of the module were arrested along with an RDX-based improvised explosive device (IED) weighing around 2.5 kg, Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said here today.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Diljot Singh, Harman Singh alias Harry alias Hari, Ajay alias Mahira, and Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Kandola. All of them are residents of the Rahon area of ​​SBS Nagar district. In addition to the RDX-based IED, police teams also recovered two pistols from their possession.

DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that this terrorist module was being operated by US-based BKI handlers. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the recovered IEDs were intended to be used to carry out a planned terrorist attack coinciding with the upcoming Republic Day celebrations.

He said a detailed investigation is underway to establish the forward and backward links in the case.

Sharing details of the operation, Hoshiarpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Malik said that based on intelligence, a joint operation by Hoshiarpur Police and CI Jalandhar teams arrested four suspects and recovered an RDX-based IED and two pistols from their possession.

The SSP further stated that the investigation also revealed that foreign-based BKI handlers had established a terrorist module tasked with smuggling weapons through the border areas of Amritsar rural area, receiving them, and managing logistics. Further investigation is underway in this case. In this

regard, FIR No. 11, dated 23/01/2026, has been registered at the Garhshankar police station in Hoshiarpur under sections 113(1) and 113(3) of the BNS, sections 25 and 25(1B)(a) of the Arms Act, and sections 4 and 5 of the Indian Explosives Act.
