Punjab Police Busts Narco-Terrorism Racket: 5 Held, 8 kg Heroin Seized

Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): Amritsar police has arrested 5 youths in a major crackdown on drug trafficking. Police has recovered 8 kg 187 grams of heroin from the possession of the accused. It has been revealed that the arrested youths have direct contact with smugglers sitting in Pakistan.
According to the information, this network was active for a long time and by adopting a new method of smuggling, the consignment was being brought by taking advantage of the flood water. Police investigation has revealed that the accused used rooms of big hotels to hide the consignment of heroin. In the Ajnala area, the consignment was picked up amidst the flood water and kept in the hotel room so that no one would suspect. A private teacher of Ajnala is also among the arrested youths. Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Bhullar said that the search for the arrested youths was going on for a long time. This gang was in contact with smuggler 'Chacha' sitting in Pakistan and from there the consignment of heroin was sent to India through drones. The arrested accused also include notorious smuggler Soni Singh, against whom about 6 cases of NDPS Act are already registered, including a case of Mohali.
After hiding the heroin in the hotel, the accused used to take it out from crowded areas so that there would be no suspicion. They used to supply the consignment of drugs further as per the instructions received from Pakistan. According to the police, all the members of the gang are mostly residents of Ajnala area, which were involved in such activities due to being a border area. The Police Commissioner said that this recovery is very important and it has dealt a major blow to the narco-terrorism network. The interrogation of the arrested accused is going on and it is expected that many more faces associated with their network will be revealed soon.
