Punjab Police personnel surpass 100,000 for the first time

Chandigarh(The Uttam Hindu): In 2000, the number of Punjab Police personnel was 80,000, and remains the same today. However, the challenges facing the Punjab Police in the state have increased significantly. Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann has taken a major step to address these challenges. As part of this initiative, the number of personnel in the Punjab Police is set to surpass 100,000 for the first time by launching a large-scale recruitment drive. In a significant initiative, the state government launched a training workshop for 730 investigating officers.
Bhagwant Singh Mann says that training police officers is essential to combat criminals who adopt new and advanced technologies. Since the Mann government came to power, the police infrastructure has been strengthened. The Punjab government has launched new police modernization initiatives, streamlining police operations through modern weaponry, software systems, digital monitoring, and mobile applications. To meet the needs of the times, the Punjab Police has been equipped with new weapons, body cameras, and new high-tech vehicles. To improve the police department's quality of work and improve the quality of work, robust and state-of-the-art infrastructure is being built in the districts, from police lines to police stations. This is transforming the working environment in outposts and police stations.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav is regularly visiting ground zero to review the ongoing improvements in policing in Punjab. Cybercrime is a major problem today. In Punjab, police have resolved many cybercrime incidents and arrested criminals within 24 to 48 hours.
