Punjab Police Launches Crackdown: Heroin Recovered, Weapons Seized in Encounter

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Police has opened a front against criminals, especially drug smugglers. Under this, Ferozepur Police arrested Rachpal Singh alias Gora son Sukhmander Singh resident Basti Machhiyan near Mata Da Mandir Police Station City Zira and recovered 3 kg 500 grams of heroin and drug money worth Rs 2 lakh from his possession. On the basis of secret information, when the team of CIA Staff Zira reached the bus stand built in Churastha Tindwa-Chohala, a young man was seen standing there wearing a kit bag, who started moving away after seeing the police party, who was arrested on the basis of suspicion and during the search, 3 kg 500 grams of heroin and drug money worth Rs 2 lakh in Indian currency were recovered from his possession, in connection with which a case has been registered in Police Station Sadar Zira.
Similarly, an encounter has taken place in Gate Hakima police station area of Amritsar, in which an accused has been injured in a police encounter. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar is reaching the encounter site to take stock of the situation. In the case of firing by four persons to save toll slip at Dhilwan toll plaza on June 25, the police had arrested two persons with the help of CCTV footage and human intelligence, on whose information a huge quantity of weapons was recovered in Dhilwan Mand area this morning. The arrested accused have been identified as Ramandeep Singh Kathu Nangal Amritsar and his companion Amritsar resident. Giving information in this regard, District Police Chief Gaurav Tura said that during the recovery of weapons in Dhilwan Mand area, an accused Ramandeep Singh allegedly tried to escape by pushing the police personnel, during the encounter he was injured by a bullet in his leg, who was admitted to Civil Hospital Kapurthala for treatment.
Under the 'war against drugs' campaign launched by the Punjab government, SSP Barnala Mohammad Sarfraz Alam demolished the shop of Usha Rani wife of Birbal, who was named in the drug smuggling case. SP (D) Ashok Kumar, DSP Satvir Singh Bains, District Mandi Officer Birinder Singh, SHO Dhanaula Jagdeep Singh were also present on the occasion.
