Punjab politics heats up as Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife launches new party ahead of polls
A major political shift in Punjab as Sidhu’s wife launches a new party, intensifying pre-election competition and debates.

Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): Political activity in Punjab has intensified as Navjot Kaur Sidhu, wife of Navjot Singh Sidhu, announced the formation of her new political party, the “Bharatiya Rashtriya Party.” The move comes nearly a year ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections and is expected to create fresh ripples in the state’s political landscape.
Sharing the announcement on social media, Navjot Kaur Sidhu said the decision was driven by the need for a new political alternative across the country. She emphasized that the party aims to serve people, safeguard their rights and promote justice and peace. She added that like-minded individuals with determination and capability have come together to expand the party’s presence across different states.
The entry of the new party is likely to intensify the electoral contest in Punjab, where the government is currently led by Bhagwant Mann of the Aam Aadmi Party while the Indian National Congress remains a key opposition force and the Bharatiya Janata Party is working to expand its base. Her decision follows her expulsion from the Congress earlier this year after she made serious allegations including claims related to corruption and internal party matters.
