Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): The Mann government has dealt a major blow to the employees of roadways and PUNBUS in Punjab, who are staging a strike to press their demands. The Transport Department has taken strict disciplinary action against all temporary employees who were on strike in protest of the cancellation of tenders for kilometer-scheme buses. The department has suspended all employees involved in the strike with immediate effect.

The government informed employees of this action via email. The official notice sent by the department sternly stated that the strike by the employees was completely illegal. The email stated that by participating in this "illegal" strike, the employees had not only violated discipline but also caused significant revenue loss to the state government.

The action didn't stop there; the department imposed fines on the employees, along with suspensions. The order clarified that the penalties were imposed for failing to operate buses on assigned routes and disobeying government orders. This tough stance by the government has caused unrest among employee unions. It's worth noting that the employees were protesting the decision to cancel the kilometer scheme tender, which had sparked a bitter battle between the administration and the unions.
