
Gurdaspur (The Uttam Hindu): A major robbery occurred in Gurdaspur, Punjab, on Wednesday morning. Five armed criminals disguised as Nihang Singhs entered a jeweler's home and stole gold jewelry and cash worth approximately ₹3 crore. During the incident, the criminals held the entire family hostage, locked them in separate rooms, and threatened to kill the children.
This incident is said to have taken place in the Scheme No. 5 area on Jail Road. According to reports, five men, disguised as Nihang Singhs, arrived at the home of jeweler Varun Mahajan around 8 a.m. At the time, the house driver, Sarabjit Singh, was cleaning vehicles outside. The miscreants approached him and asked him to call the owner inside. As soon as the driver went inside, all the miscreants followed him inside.
Upon entering the house, the miscreants began threatening the family. They claimed they had come to talk to them because the family had posted offensive posts about their gurus on social media. One of the miscreants pointed a pistol at the jeweler's wife, Neha Mahajan, and forced the entire family to gather together.
The robbers then locked everyone in separate rooms. Driver Sarabjit Singh was locked in one room, Neha Mahajan and her two children, Krish and Shikhar, in another, and Varun Mahajan in a third. The robbers took all the keys to the house and searched the house, threatening to kill the children.
The robbers fled with gold jewelry and cash from the house. They also took the DVR from the CCTV cameras installed in the house and fled the scene in the family's car. According to the victim's family, the robbers stole property worth approximately ₹3 crore (approximately $30 million). Upon receiving information about the incident, police arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and began an investigation. Police are reviewing footage from nearby CCTV cameras and are searching for the suspects.
