Ropar (The Uttam Hindu): Sensation spread in Punjab's Ropar district when Dilsher Singh, a former DSP of the Chandigarh Police, along with his associates, opened fire on AAP leader Nitin Nanda. Nitin Nanda was seriously injured in the firing. He was struck in the back of the head by a bullet, while two other bullets grazed his body.

The incident occurred at Agampur Chowk-Jahaz Road in Anandpur Sahib when Nitin Nanda had arrived to attend a wedding. The sudden firing caused panic at the scene, and people began running for their lives. The injured Nitin Nanda was immediately taken to Civil Hospital, Anandpur Sahib. After providing first aid, doctors referred him to PGI Chandigarh due to his critical condition. Sources indicate his condition remains critical.

Property dispute is being cited as the reason

Initial investigation has revealed that there was a property dispute going on between the two parties. It is suspected that the attack was carried out due to this enmity. At present, the police is investigating from this angle as well. On receiving information about the incident, SP Gurdeep Singh Gosal, SHO and DSP level officers immediately reached the spot and the forensic team collected evidence from the spot. The names of former DSP Dilsher Singh, Ram Kumar and one other person have come up in the firing. The police have registered a case of attempt to murder (Section 307 IPC) against all the accused and efforts are on to arrest the main accused.
