Punjab’s brave son Jobanpreet Singh martyred in Doda accident, CM Bhagwant Mann expresses grief

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): In a tragic road accident in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, 10 Army personnel were martyred after a vehicle carrying soldiers plunged into a deep gorge on Thursday. Among the martyrs was 23-year-old Jobanpreet Singh, a resident of Chanauli village in Ropar district, Punjab.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Jobanpreet Singh. He said that the entire state is proud of the supreme sacrifice made by the brave soldier in the service of the nation.

The Chief Minister extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and said that the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of the martyr will always be remembered. In a post on social media platform X, CM Mann wrote that the recent accident in Doda, where a bus carrying soldiers fell into a deep gorge, claimed the lives of 10 brave soldiers, including Punjab’s young son Jobanpreet Singh. He assured that the Punjab government stands firmly with the martyr’s family and will provide all possible assistance during this difficult time.

According to information, the vehicle was carrying 17 Army personnel and was moving towards a high-altitude post on the Bhaderwah–Chamba inter-state road near Khanni Top, when it lost control and fell into a deep gorge.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and several other leaders also expressed grief over the incident. Leaders across the country paid tribute to the martyred soldiers and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
