Tarn Taran(The Uttam Hindu): Aam Aadmi Party Punjab leader and AAP candidate for Tarn Taran by-election Harmeet Singh Sandhu on Monday launched a blistering attack on Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring for his derogatory, casteist remarks against late senior Congress leader Sardar Buta Singh, calling the statement a “shameful reflection of caste arrogance and deep-rooted prejudice” within the Congress party.

Sandhu said that Raja Warring’s words are not a slip of the tongue but a deliberate insult to the entire Dalit community, a crime born of arrogance, not ignorance. “Warring’s so-called apology is nothing but a desperate attempt to cover up his caste pride and save his chair. It is not repentance, it is damage control,” said Sandhu.

He said that Sardar Buta Singh was a towering national figure, an erudite scholar and former Union Home Minister who commanded respect across the country. “If Congress leaders can demean such a personality based on caste, one can only imagine their contempt for ordinary Dalit citizens,” he said.

Sandhu accused Congress of having a long history of anti-Dalit mindset, recalling how senior Congressmen like Pratap Bajwa and Sunil Jakhar had earlier made casteist remarks. “This party pretends to worship Dr. Ambedkar, but practices discrimination every day,” he thundered.

The AAP leader said Congress must immediately expel Raja Warring and apologize to Dalit community. He concluded, “Such poisonous thinking cannot go unpunished. Punjab is the land of Gurus and equality, not of caste-based arrogance or discrimination. Those who insult the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar has no moral right to stay in politics.”
