Retired IG Amar Singh Chahal attempts suicide, hospitalized in critical condition

Patiala (The Uttam Hindu): Former IPS officer Amar Singh Chahal has shot himself and is undergoing treatment at Park Hospital. Police said that former IPS officer Amar Singh Chahal is in critical condition after allegedly attempting suicide. He suffered serious chest injuries and is undergoing treatment at the hospital. According to police officials, a note was also found at the scene, which mentions financial difficulties due to online fraud. Police have started an investigation to find out the real reasons behind the incident.

Patiala SSP Varun Sharma stated that upon receiving information about the incident, police teams immediately reached Chahal's home. Amar Singh Chahal was an accused in the 2015 Faridkot firing case. On February 24, 2023, the Punjab Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) filed a charge sheet in the Faridkot court. This SIT was led by ADGP LK Yadav at the time.
